Due to their diffusion and seriousness, viral diseases are one of the major causes of the dramatic health emergency in the planet’s poorest areas, also impacting the most industrialized and economically advanced countries. International reports indicate that in developing countries, mainly in Africa, infective diseases represent the principal cause of death; viral infections are of great concern also in industrialized areas for their consequences in the social and health fields. The times are distant now, in which we thought vaccines and drugs could prevent and eradicate viral diseases – like the World Health Organization stated a few decades ago.

The reasons and purposes of a research organization like Aviralia Foundation stem from the need of increasing efforts – also in our Country – for coordinating, supporting and developing studies and biomedical research applied to the field of viral-related diseases. This is due to the fact that viruses are increasingly linked to the presence of tumor diseases, generally degenerative ones.Read more

Aviralia Foundation’s primary and basic purpose and commitment are to support and develop medical and scientific research in Italy in the sector of virus-related diseases. Along with scientific programs carried out with the Foundation’s own funds, we also promote and/or participate in forging scientific agreements with public and private bodies (in Italy and abroad) that share our sensibility and commitment toward increasing knowledge in the pathogenic, diagnostic, therapeutic and prevention areas of virus-related diseases.

The challenge linked to the spread of viral diseases (like HIV and others) in less-developed areas as well as in industrialized countries and the reduction of public funds intended for scientific and medical research, leads us to consider how we can effectively continue fighting against these diseases. Supporting the Aviralia Foundation means effectively contributing to the efforts made by the italian biomedical research in order to counteract and eradicate those insidious and dramatic diseases, with their negative effects on the weakest and most vulnerable social groups and heavy costs on welfare.
One small gesture which can change a sick person’s life.

One of the institutional duty of Aviralia Foundation is to develop and diffuse major basic knowledge and information about virus, for prevention of diseases onset, frequently bind to some tumour forms. That’s why we opened up a space, where we illustrate in simple and easily understandable terms the viruses Aviralia Foundation decided to focus its programs and research activities on.
